How To Uninstall Windows Live Messenger (or other Live program):ġ) The normal way to remove (technically, “uninstall”) programs from your computer is to use the “Add/Remove Programs” tool in the Windows Control Panel (called “Programs and Features” in Vista/Win7).
Click Next and follow any additional prompts to complete the uninstall and to remove any traces of the old Microsoft Messenger.
Toward the bottom of the list, uncheck Windows Messenger. If you have it, and do not want it either, keep reading. This Messenger is a part of the Windows System, so it can be uninstalled in the following fashion: Click Start -> Run, type control in the dialog box and click Ok. Some of those are keepers for sure, but renaming Messenger to “Live Messenger”, and giving it a fancier look, um, er, well, let’s just say I don’t want it on my machine.
